The Vitugs of the World |
Daddy Vitug's Response to Jason Vitug (Grandson) in his own words. Julian Mesina Vitug (Daddy Vitug's Father) Was one of the richest families in Lubao, Pampanga, Philippines. He Was mayor for two terms of the same town. He was locust supervising inspector in the Department of Agriculture of the Philippines. During the occupation of the Philippines, he burned two bridges leading to the barrio where his property was in order not for the Japanese forces to get through so that raping of Filipino women in that area is stopped. He was taken prisoner for burning the bridges, and taken to another town where he was locked up for several months. When he was asked by the Japanese military investigators why he had to burn the bridges, answered: "It is because you come and get our food and rape our women.” Because of that answer he was set free after a few days. Dolores Tiongco Portel (Daddy Vitug's Mother) Was the daughter of Capt. Federico Portel of the Spanish militia in the Philippines. The father was recalled back to Spain and was left behind because of the rush in the recall of the father. However, her sister followed later and settle in Barcelona, Spain and married a businessman. Her name is Teodora Portel Torno (husband’s name) Joaquin Vitug (Daddy Vitug's Grandfather) My grandfather and father of my father was a Cabesa de Barangay which means head of a barrio. You can not be a cabesa de barangay if you are not rich and prominent in the community. Maxima Mesina Vitug (Daddy Vitug's Grandmother) My grandmother (daughter’s side) was a Filipino Chinese. Capt. Federico Portel was the son of a Spanish mother and a French father. So I have four bloods in my veins French, Spanish, Chinese and Filipino.
